What are the benefits of using a prismatic hybrid battery vs a cylindrical one in a Toyota Hybrid?

Prismatic NiMH Battery:

These are durable and are known for long-term reliability, especially in hot conditions like Jamaica.

Cylindrical Li-ion Battery:

These are lighter than the prismatic cells, making them cheaper. However, they are not as durable or last as long.

Q. Do you sell hybrid batteries in Jamaica?

A: Yes we do; we sell brand new battery packs. We also sell used and new battery cells that are used to rebuild old packs.

Q: what are the benefits of purchasing a brand new battery pack vs rebuilding my pack?

A: Brand new batteries come with a longer warranty period, i.e. 3 years or 100,000 Km (Whichever comes first) but are expected to last 5 to 8 years. Used cells come with 6 months warranty.

Rebuilding your pack is cheaper however new packs perform better and last longer. So it is cost vs efficiency.

We have a solution for most customers and budgets.

Q: What’s the cost of a new battery pack?

A: This depends on the brand or model car, please contact us to get a quote. Packs start at $295,000 JMD.

Q: What’s the cost of your used modules /cells?

A: All our cells are of high quality and have good voltage and capacity. They have a capacity of 80 -85% of the original capacity, this assures your car performs as it should.  We sell them from $9,500 JMD to a maximum of $20,000. The cost is dependent on the brand and model of the car.

Q: What’s your diagnostic cost?

A: Free if you visit our office and $5,000 – $7,500 if we have to come to you.

Q: Why did the fault reappear after being cleared by a technician?

A: Resetting the computer will not fix the problem 99% of the time, the fault with reappear in a few hours or days.

Q: Why is my car still showing a fault after replacing bad cells?

A: This is most likely a result of all the bad cells not being replaced. Scanning a car or using a voltage meter are not efficient ways of determining what cells are bad, this has to be done using a special charger that checks the capacity and voltage of each cell. When the process is complete the entire battery pack needs to be rebalanced.

Q: How long does it take to get my car checked properly?

A: The initial check only takes a few minutes as this is done with an OBD2 scanner. However, a thorough check takes 2 – 3 days. It takes this long as we have to check each individual cell / module in your pack and this requires us to charge and discharge each cell at least three times. This is required to determine if the capacity of each cell is suitable for your car.
